사랑은 세상을 돌아가게 만드는 힘이기도 하다. 많은 예술가들이 자신의 마음을 표현하기 위해 사랑하는 사람의 초상을 그렸다. 사랑은 기쁨을 주고 미래에 대한 희망을 주기에 연인들은 기꺼이 하나가 되려 한다. 예술가들의 시선은 이 긍정적인 감정을 속속들이 들여다보면서 동시에 자신들이 추구하고 있는 화풍을 집중적으로 보여주기도 한다. 화가들의 고백은 그들이 작품 활동을 할 때 처하는 개인적이고 감정적인 상황을 분명하게 설명한다. 나는 위대한 예술가들에게 한때 사랑을 받았던 사람들을 선택하기 전에 많은 작품들을 살펴보았다. 이들 예술가들은 자신의 연인을 찬미하고 그 감정을 예술로 승화시킴으로써 보는 이들로 하여금 예술가들의 마음 깊은 곳을 자세히 들여다보게 해주었다.

Artists' eyes look into this positive emotion and at the same time focus on the painting style they are pursuing. Painters' confessions clearly explain the personal and emotional situations they face when they work. I looked at many works before choosing people who were once loved by great artists. These artists praised their lovers and sublimated their feelings into art, allowing the viewer to take a closer look at the artist's heart.
